PCMC Seeks More Time For JNNURM Projects

PUNE: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has sought a one year extension from the Union government for completing the Pavana dam Nigdi pipeline project and sewage treatment plant (STP) at Charholi being carried out under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
Municipal commissioner Ashish Sharma said all the JNNURM projects have to be completed before March 3, 2012. He admitted that there will be a delay in completion of the two aforementioned projects, but he refuted allegations that the other JNNURM projects, namely the bus rapid transit system (BRTS) and the housing project for the economically weaker section (EWS), have also been delayed.
