Pune Property Tax: Exemption For Decorated Soldiers Sought

The War Decorated India (TWDI), an organisation representing the highly decorated soldiers (HDS), has urged the Pune Municipal Corporation to provide complete tax exemption on one property personally owned by such soldiers.
The demand was put forth in a letter written by Major Uday Sathe, state director, WDI, who also met Mayor Mohan Singh Rajpal asking for several concessions for the HDS.
According to the letter, there are only 1,557 HDS, out which only 105 live in the state. “The city hosts only 10 per cent of these highly decorated soldiers. A few facilities to such brave souls would honour such soldiers and make the citizens proud,” the letter stated.
